Working Age Population 2024

In 2024, Abu Dhabi’s labour market continued its upward trajectory, with the number of employed individuals increasing by 9.1% compared to the previous year — indicating sustained demand across key economic sectors. The working-age population, defined as individuals aged 15 to 64, comprised approximately 83.6% of the total population, equating to population of 3.46 million residing in Abu Dhabi Emirate. Within this group, males represented around 2.42 million (69.8%), while females accounted for approximately 1.04 million (30.2%), reflecting the prevailing gender composition of the emirate’s labour force.

Relative to its respective regional population Al Dhafra region has the largest working-age group (89.5%) and the lowest children share (9.5%) and seniors (1.0%), showing a workforce-heavy population. Abu Dhabi region follows with a strong working-age population (83.9%) and children (14.3%) and seniors (1.8%) share. Al Ain region has the highest share of children (16.8%) and seniors (2.3%).

The Emirate’s thriving job market reflects strong growth in both skilled and essential sectors. Employment increased by approximately 9.1% from 2023 to 2024, reflecting a healthy growth in the labour market.

Employed Population by Blue Collar and White Collar 2023-2024

In Emirate of Abu Dhabi, blue collar jobs grew between 2023-2024 with 11.4%, while white-collar roles increased with 6.4%. This highlights opportunities available in blue-collar jobs and the strong demand in the sector to support big infrastructure and construction projects in the emirate.
